Activities in Family | AA9 (formerly GH61) proteins are copper-dependent lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs); cleavage of cellulose chains with oxidation of carbons C1 and/or C4 and C-6); lytic cellulose monooxygenase (C1-hydroxylating) (EC 1.14.99.54); lytic cellulose monooxygenase (C4-dehydrogenating) (EC 1.14.99.56) |

Mechanism | monooxygenase |
Note | AA9 (formerly GH61). The enzymes in this family were originally classified as a glycoside hydrolases (GH61) based on very weak endo-1,4-b-D-glucanase activity in one family member. They are now reclassified in the AA category of CAZy. Because a significant literature is associated with the old name GH61, we recommend to describe these enzymes as "AA9 (formerly GH61)". |
